# Authority and citations

Earn the independent corroboration that helps engines and buyers trust your claims.

Your own site establishes what you claim. Independent sources help establish whether the claim is credible.

## Build source-level authority

Prioritize places your buyers and the relevant engines already use: specialist publications, standards bodies, industry associations, research partners, customer stories, reputable directories, expert communities, and high-quality editorial coverage.

## Match claim to proof

A review may support perceived ease of use. A benchmark with a published method may support a performance claim. A customer case study may support a use-case outcome. Use the right form of evidence instead of chasing mentions indiscriminately.

## Keep entities consistent

Use a stable company name, product naming, description, category, canonical domain, leadership information, locations, and profile links. Resolve outdated descriptions and duplicate profiles where possible.

## Avoid manufactured consensus

Scaled low-quality guest posts, fake profiles, undisclosed placements, copied statistics, and review manipulation undermine trust and create reputational risk. Distribution should make real expertise discoverable, not simulate evidence.
